The Vision of Dorje Denma Ling

Dorje Denma Ling is unique; nowhere else in the entire Shambhala mandala has the energetic qualities that nurture and support meditation, contemplation and study in the same way. Further, while being the Residential Land Centre for the Kingdom of Shambhala, Dorje Denma Ling is a local centre for the residents of the area, a regional centre for the Atlantic Provinces and, as an international centre, welcomes practitioners from around the world.

When you come here you experience the elemental nature of the environment itself: the spacious sky, surrounding forest, rolling rugged landscape and the distant horizon of the Northumberland Straight and Prince Edward Island. The simple, open and direct quality of the land naturally supports meditation practice and the study and contemplation of the teachings.

Because of this Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche has laid out a breathtaking plan for the development of Dorje Denma Ling which will create an energetic spiritual generator, a home for teaching and practice, and a full manifestation of the forms of Enlightened Society.

Under the guidance of K'an-yu (Fengshui) lineage holder and master, Eva Wong, the overall development plan is being implemented in accordance with four principles: 

• Sacred Architecture and Fengshui: All building at Dorje Denma Ling will be located, designed and constructed in accord with the natural energetic quality of the environment and will locate, empower, embody and honour the qualities of clarity, wakefulness, sanity and human dignity.
• Sustainable Design and Construction: Our aim is to become completely self sufficient in energy, using a combination of geothermal heating for the main buildings and non-polluting energy from wind generation. All buildings will be constructed using local community resources, trades and crafts people wherever possible.
• Cost Effectiveness: Working within the above guidelines, all development will be carried out making the best use of the resources available.
• Community Consultation: All development will be a dynamic process involving feedback and consultation with The Sakyong, Eva Wong, the residential community of Dorje Denma Ling and the wider Shambhala community.
