We are at an exciting juncture of development and are looking for core staff members, who
… are dedicated practitioners,
… want to serve and help manifest enlightened society,
… enjoy taking a professional approach to their responsibilities,
… dare to contribute to an awake learning culture of caring, and kindness.
Dorje Denma Ling is here to foster a culture of basic goodness, an awake, courageous, caring society. Staff and interns can enjoy a 24/7 practice and learning environment that extends into all aspects of life, community, and work. Dorje Denma Ling performs a vital role in the training and development of practitioners inspired to genuinely help transform society.
Life at a practice centre has three components:
1. Community as a practice, and Shambhala cultural development
2. Professional and vocational service, training and experience
3. Personal practice and education path
Staff and interns will gain experience, skills and knowledge in all three components, which are valuable for their future engagements in work, community and in their personal live. Core Community members receive room and board plus a monthly stipend. Generally, a minimum one-year commitment is requested for core community positions. A two-year commitment is requested for department head positions.

We are looking for Summer Volunteers in the following departments:
Summer months at Dorje Denma Ling are the busiest part of our program season – a time of intensive practice, and deep meditation. Hundreds of people come to this part of picturesque Nova Scotia to come together with the fellow warriors on the Shambhala path to deepen their practice.
Summer is an ideal time to experience life in our dharma centre as a volunteer and to apply meditation in action in the midst of running the summer programs.
Summer volunteering at Dorje Denma Ling combines work, meditation, connection with community and so much needed help to our centre. It’s a unique opportunity to spend a time in a distinctive environment aspiring to create an enlightened society, surrounded by beautiful open meadows and a magical sky.
Those of you who are interested in becoming part of the process of creating a pleasant and strong container for our participants, who are inspired by the vision of enlightened society and the art of hosting, are warmly invited to spend a week, a month or the whole summer with us. Come to connect with drala, teaching, and community while having an invaluable work experience!
