Covid-19 Policies for The 2022 Program Season

Travel Considerations

If you live in Canada, you can now travel freely to Dorje Denma Ling without any testing or other Nova Scotia entry requirements. However, if you are travelling by plane, train or boat, you must comply with the Canadian Government conditions, which require you to be fully vaccinated and wear a mask at all times.

Foreign nationals, including U.S. citizens, wishing to enter Canada for nonessential purposes must also comply with the Canadian Government’s travel guidelines. If you are travelling to Dorje Denma Ling, you must:

  • Be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before entering. The vaccine must be one approved by the Canadian Government.
  • Create an online ArriveCAN account and fill out the electronic form at least 72 hours before entering. You will receive a confirmation receipt which you will be asked to show at the border.
  • Upload proof of vaccination to the ArriveCAN app. However, you are still required to bring proof of vaccination with you as well.
  • Have a quarantine plan in place, just in case.
  • Have your passport. (If you are a dual citizen, you will need both your U.S. and Canadian Passports.)
  • Not have any symptoms when you get to the border, otherwise you could be refused entry.

A pre-entry test is no longer required for fully vaccinated individuals. However, you may be randomly selected for testing. You will not be required to wait for results of the test, but can continue to your destination.

If you are travelling with children who are unvaccinated, or you have recovered from Covid, other pre-arrival testing requirements apply. Please refer to this page on the Travel Canada website for more detail.

Current Nova Scotia Health Covid Policy

Because of our high vaccination rates in Canada, the Nova Scotia government has lifted province-wide gathering limits, social distancing or mask restrictions (except for high-risk settings like healthcare and continuing care.) However, the government cautions that the Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet, and strongly advises individuals to consider following the healthcare guidelines on masking and social distancing in public places, especially indoors, according to their personal level of comfort when assessing the safety of the group activity.

Within that context, businesses and nonprofit organizations are free to set their own health and safety requirements at their facilities. Because most participants travelling to longer residential retreats at Dorje Denma Ling will be subject to the Canadian Government’s fully vaccinated requirement, we are also implementing a full-vaccination policy for all visitors.

Our goal is to ensure our faculty and guests feel relaxed and protected.

Dorje Denma Ling Covid Policy

Denma Ling’s Covid policy will follow the Government of Nova Scotia’s approach with a few caveats, and is a general policy for all programs.

  • All staff and volunteers who work at Dorje Denma Ling are fully vaccinated.
  • All program participants must be fully vaccinated at least two weeks before arriving on the land.
  • Upon arrival, all guests will be asked a few screening questions.
  • Guests who arrive at Denma Ling with any symptoms, will be required to produce a negative Covid rapid test. A positive test result will require that person to be isolated until a negative PCR test is received, or they may choose to leave. Denma Ling can provide a rapid test for a $20 charge.
  • We will endeavour to space meditators at a comfortable distance. However, inside gathering limits are now lifted, and masking is still highly recommended for public spaces. Please bring your masks.
  • Guests will also be asked to sign the DDL Covid waiver.
  • Guests who develop symptoms while on the land will be provided a space to isolate from others until a negative Covid test is received.

If you are experiencing ANY symptoms of a cold, flu or Covid, please stay home.

We reserve the right to add to or change this policy should it seem appropriate to do so. If any new restrictions are implemented by the Nova Scotia government, we will adjust our policy to remain in compliance.
