Covid-19 Policies for The 2021 Program Season

October 28, 2021

Nova Scotia is now in a modified Stage 5 of its Reopening Plan. This phase removes inside gathering limits, but masking requirements remain in place for indoor activities.

Also note that Dorje Denma Ling’s Covid Policy must comply with the N.S. government guidelines, which restricts attendance at indoor, non-essential activities (e.g., restaurants, classes, sports events, etc.) to fully vaccinated individuals until community spread of the 4th wave of the covid virus is contained.

In short, until further notice from the government of Nova Scotia, if you wish to visit Dorje Denma Ling, you must be fully vaccinated (unless unable to do so for medical reasons), receive a negative rapid or PCR test before arrival, and wear a mask inside of public spaces.

Dorje Denma Ling Covid Policy

The DDL COVID policy listed complies with the Government of Nova Scotia’s pandemic guidelines, and is a general policy for all programs.

  • All DDL visitors, staff and volunteers are required to be fully (two inoculations) vaccinated at least 14 days before your arrival on the land. Be prepared to provide proof of vaccinations and dates received.
  • DDL also provides weekly workplace rapid testing for all staff and volunteers.
  • DDL requires proof of a negative Rapid or PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival on the land.
  • Inside gathering limits are now lifted, but masking requirements are still in place for public spaces. Please bring your masks.
  • Upon arrival on the land guests and program staff who are not also DDL staff will:
    • Have their temperature taken
    • Verbally answer the COVID screening questions
    • Show proof of full vaccination
    • Show proof of a negative PCR or rapid COVID test taken within 72 hours of arrival on the land
    • Sign the DDL COVID waiver
  • Guests and non-DDL program staff who have an elevated temperature on multiple measurements, answer “No” to any of the screening questions, or who do not sign the COVID waiver, will not be permitted to attend a DDL program.
  • Guests and non-DDL program staff who develop symptoms while on the land will be given a rapid test and required to get a PCR test as soon as possible. While waiting for test results, anyone who has developed symptoms will be asked to isolate from others. With a negative PCR result, program participation may continue. With a positive result, the guest or staff person will be asked to leave the land and must self-isolate.

Guidelines for Different Areas of the Facility

Events in the Shrine Room

Before your arrival, the staff will thoroughly clean all common areas, and specify the rooms that visitors can and cannot enter. It is your responsibility to follow these health and safety guidelines:

  • Wear a mask at all times when entering and moving around in all indoor common areas.
  • Use hand sanitizer upon entering and leaving.
  • Maintain the physical distance of 2 meters between you and others in common areas whenever possible.
  • Limit your presence to those rooms into which you have been invited; don’t stray out of bounds.
  • During the practice event, if the program is small enough to accommodate appropriate social distancing measures, you may remove your mask when practising, or leave it on if that feels safer to you. When you leave a “socially distanced practice spot” for any reason, you must use your mask and sanitize or wash your hands again.
  • Note that gathering limits indoors have been removed in Nova Scotia, but masking requirements remain.
