Covid-19 Policies for The 2023 Program Season

Dorje Denma Ling Covid Policy

January 10, 2023

Although Nova Scotia government has lifted province-wide gathering limits, social distancing or mask restrictions (except for high-risk settings like healthcare and continuing care), they caution that the Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet. Businesses and nonprofit organizations are free to set their own health and safety requirements at their facilities.

Dorje Denma Ling’s goal is to ensure our faculty and guests feel relaxed and protected. Based on experience from the past two program years, we feel that it is necessary to maintain strict Covid protocols in order to do our best to avoid Covid infections that can disrupt the peace and tranquility of a meditation environment. These guidelines will be in place for the foreseeable 2023 Program Season, and will only be updated if the pandemic moves to endemic status.

If you wish to attend retreats, visit, volunteer or work at Dorje Denma Ling in any capacity you must:

  • Monitor yourself: don’t come if you have symptoms resembling Covid, or if you are generally unwell in any way. Guests who arrive at Denma Ling with any symptoms, will be asked to leave.
  • Arrive wearing a mask.
  • Be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and show proof at registration OR arrive with proof of a negative PCR test within the last 72 hours. Fully vaccinated means having at least the initial two doses of vaccine at least 14 days before coming.
  • Upon arrival, take the rapid test provided for you. (If you test positive, you will be isolated.)
  • Sign the DDL Covid waiver.
  • Continue to mask until such time as the group is comfortable that no one is infected with the Covid virus (usually about 4 days, but this can be determined by the group). Of course, anyone who prefers can continue to mask.
  • We will endeavour to space meditators at a comfortable distance. However, inside gathering limits are now lifted.
  • Guests who develop symptoms while on the land will be provided a space to isolate from others until a negative Covid test is received.

If you are experiencing ANY symptoms of a cold, flu or Covid, please stay home.

We also recommend — if you are traveling by plane and arriving in a vehicle other than your own, please continue wearing a mask to minimize any risk of your contacting the Covid virus en route to the retreat.

We reserve the right to add to or change this policy should it seem appropriate to do so. It is our wish to keep you safe and healthy while you are with us.
