Facilities Assistant

The Facilities Department is responsible for providing an uplifted environment through maintaining the buildings, equipment, and land of Dorje Denma Ling.  As a member of the facilities staff, this position takes direction from the facilities manager and supports the Dorje Denma Ling environment throughout the season. The facilities assistants provide the skills and labor to keep the Dorje Denma Ling buildings and grounds in good repair, clean and uplifted.


The task and responsibilities of the Facilities Assistant include:

  • Assisting with general maintenance and repair of buildings and structures.
  • Helping to build structures including platforms, cabins and boardwalks, etc. to accommodate participant and program needs.
  • Assisting with vehicle and equipment maintenance or repair, grounds maintenance, landscaping, snow removal, trash removal and recycling.
  • Driving, with a valid license, a company vehicle for errands, procuring supplies, and in other ways of supporting the functions of Dorje Denma Ling.
  • Assisting with program set-up and take down.
  • Performing related work as required.



  • Experience and interest in Shambhala programs of study and practice.
  • Desire to live and work in a practice community.
  • Able to communicate clear and effectively with co-workers and program participants.
  • Able to work well under stressful circumstances.
  • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use construction equipment and power tools.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience in building trades.
