Housekeeping Assistant

Nature of Work

Working closely with the Guest Services Coordinator, the Housekeeping Assistant, is responsible for maintaining a clean and uplifted atmosphere throughout Dorje Denma Ling.

The Housekeeping Assistant reports to the Guest Services Coordinator.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Working with the Program Liaison, plan and support program housekeeping rota.
  • Inventory and order all cleaning supplies, equipment, and paper products.
  • Ensure that the kitchen has an ongoing supply of kitchen linens.
  • Maintain household supply room.
  • Prepare/clean Gyatso Lodge for major programs, with the help of staff and volunteers.
  • Plan and oversee household staff Rota.
  • Oversee and train volunteers as necessary.
  • Maintain linen closet in main building and Gyatso Lodge.
  • Maintain laundry room.
  • Ensure plants are cared for appropriately.

Compensation

The Housekeeping Assistant is classified as a full-time, core-staff position working a minimum 30 hours per week. If a resident staff member living on the land, you will be charged at a modest rate for board and lodging, which will be deducted from your semi-monthly pay.

Other benefits include ample time for daily meditation practice, access to local Meditation Instructors, opportunities to participate in dharma classes and retreats, and free tuition for programs at Dorje Denma Ling (if your schedule permits).

Evaluation Process

After two months of employment, there will be a process of review for the Housekeeping Assistant. This process will be designed and led by the Executive Director and will include a review of performance, communication and practices.
