Nature of Work

The role of the Program Liaison is to work with the Program Manager and other department heads to bring programs to fruition and meet the logistical needs of incoming teachers and participants.

The overall success of Dorje Denma Ling’s programming depends on creating a positive experience for both the teachers and participants during the execution of the program. It is the responsibility of the Program Liaison to do whatever it takes to ensure the Dorje Denma Ling staff meet this goal.

The Program Liaison reports to the Personnel Manager.

Tasks and Responsibilities

As the master of all details related to successful program implementation, the Dorje Denma Ling Program Liaison:

  • Reviews each Program Contract carefully and — working with the Program Manager and other DDL staff, coordinates the execution of details associated with the program, including setup, resource support during the program and takedown.
  • Becomes familiar with the staff mandala for programs, and reaches out to introduce themselves and offers assistance.
  • At least two weeks before the program, ensures the Kitchen Manager has the dietary group counts for the program, along with any special needs requests.
  • Prior to the program, prepares name tags, schedules and other necessary documents and Retreat Guru reports for the incoming program staff and participants.
  • Meets and works with the incoming Program Coordinator and teacher(s) to ensure the program staff and participants are supported in whatever way is necessary.
  • Ensures that program staff and participants receive a comprehensive orientation to the facilities, safety procedures and operational policies for Dorje Denma Ling.
  • Temporarily fills other staff support functions as needed.
  • Manages feedback loops and addresses issues to ensure participants have a positive experience at Dorje Denma Ling.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a strong personal commitment to meditation practice.
  • Is an experienced program coordinator, preferably having specific experience coordinating Shambhala Training or other Shambhala programs.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and steadiness when providing support to teachers and participants during program setup and implementation.
  • Is a good communicator and is attentive to details.
  • Has a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Is proficient in using database and other software tools.

Compensation

The Program Liaison is a paid core staff position, which may be either a full time or part time position. If a resident staff member living on the land, you will be charged modestly for board and lodging, which will be deducted from your semi-monthly pay.
