(Postponed) Chöd Gathering: Celebrating the Song of the Mother

With Kristine McCutcheon

September 30 - October 2, 2022

We regret that we had to postpone the Chöd Gathering scheduled to begin September 30th. We hope to run it at a future date. Please keep an eye on our website and newsletters for more information.

Note: This retreat is a hybrid. If you can’t join us in person, you can connect online via Zoom. Please register here to join online.

As in the sky, all clouds disappear into the sky, the sky itself
Wherever they go, they go nowhere;
Wherever they are, they are nowhere.

The same is the same for thoughts in the mind.
When mind looks at mind,
The waves of conceptual thought disappear.

                          — from Machig’s Last Instructions

If you practise Chöd — come join us for this weekend! Together we will study and practise The Song of the Mother, a guru yoga of Machig, written by Karme Chagme with a commentary by Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso.

If you are able to join in person, please bring your personal Chöd text. There will be times to do your practice during the retreat.

All Chödpas Welcome

This isn’t an introductory weekend. If you have a Chöd practice already — from any tradition, you are invited. If you have any questions about attending this Chöd gathering, please contact Kristine directly.

If you are not yet a Chöd practitioner, but would like to learn, please refer to this this online recorded training.

What to Expect

During this retreat, practitioners from all Chöd traditions will study and practise together The Song of the Mother, a guru yoga of Machig. This will be our unifying theme for the gathering. (If you don’t have the liturgy, this will be shared with you.)

We embark on this group retreat in the spirit of exploration, where we share our wisdom. For those of us gathered at Dorje Denma Ling, we could also enjoy Chöd practices from other traditions. These sessions will arise according to the auspicious coincidence of those who are inspired to join the retreat. If you are able to come in person, you are invited to bring your Chöd practice.

Depending on the weather we could practise inside or outside in nature. The retreat includes meals, which are served in the dining room. It is a social gathering and not a silent retreat, but we may also enjoy periods of silence.

Note: The sessions where participants will be joining online are marked as “hybrid.” All times are listed in Atlantic Time.
