Facilities Assistant

Nature of Work

The Facilities Department is responsible for providing an uplifted environment through maintaining the buildings, equipment, and land of Dorje Denma Ling.  As a member of the facilities staff, this position takes direction from the facilities manager and supports the Dorje Denma Ling environment throughout the season.

Providing a well maintained and uplifted environment that supports the practice of residents and visitors. The Facilities Assistant provides the skills and labour to keep the Dorje Denma Ling buildings and grounds in good repair, clean and uplifted.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include maintaining our property to support participant and program needs. Tasks involve planting, mowing, and landscaping; maintaining lawns, fields, pathways, and structures; and maintaining buildings, decks, and other infrastructure. Operate and maintain equipment, including mowers, chainsaws, and other tools. Manage trash, and recycling. Support program set-up and take-down, run errands, and perform related duties as needed.

Expectations

The Facilities Assistant should:

  • Desire to live and work in a practice community.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers, program participants and DDL staff.
  • Be able to work well under stressful circumstances.
  • Be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Be capable of lifting 40 pounds.
  • Be capable of wield construction and handyman tools such as hammers, power tools, etc.
