More about life at Dorje Denma Ling
At Dorje Denma Ling there is a core year-round, residential staff of approximately twelve people who work together to create a community based on Shambhala principles and to provide a contemplative container for program visitors. The Dorje Denma Ling environment offers an inviting retreat setting for local, regional and international gatherings not only for Shambhala Buddhism but for all traditions that promote individual and global health and harmony. Program content spans all levels of experience with meditation and the human spiritual journey. Over 1,000 visitors come through the center in the course of a year.
The center is an active participant in the support and nourishment of the local community of Tatamagouche. There is an open house every Sunday morning throughout the year to which all are welcome.
The Executive Director of Dorje Denma Ling sits on the North Shore Area Community Health Board and is also responsible for developing an initiative to create a forum for nurturing and sustaining the Tatamagouche community and environment. Dorje Denma Ling is a partner in the Katimavik program for young people, and is a member of the local bartering system (LETS). Dorje Denma Ling is in the process of expanding, and its four principles of development planning are feng shui and sacred architecture, sustainability, community participation, and simplicity.
