Joseph Litven

Joe Litven has been teaching Buddhist and Shambhala programs for over 40 years.  He has taught Shambhala Training in Europe and in North and South America.  For many years he was Dean of Shambhala Training in Halifax, whose responsibility was to mentor and train prospective teachers.  Recently he has been a teacher and head of study at the Profound Treasury retreats in Maine and Colorado.

Joe has a PhD in psychology and has taught wellness programs based on mindfulness for organizations and groups.  Additionally he has supervised and counselled addictions clients and their therapists.  He brings his wealth of experience in meditation and consulting directly to the health related questions of our time.  Currently he enjoys bicycling, hiking and reading and spending time with his new granddaughter.

Raising Windhorse: Wellbeing in Times of Turmoil

  “The warriors who experience windhorse feel the joy and sorrow of love in everything they do.” —Chögyam Trungpa, Shambhala: Sacred Path of the Warrior   The challenges of our time, both societal and personal, have left many feeling depleted, alienated and without the experience of buoyancy that basic healthiness can bring. This program will present practices and perspectives that can begin to lift our spirits and reconnect us to basic healthiness. We will lay the foundation for this reconnection with deep meditation.
